WE SHOULD ALL BE FEMINISTS
A minute of Feminism.
What women had achieved in several years of fighting for their rights?
WOMEN COULD NOT GO OUT
In the past,
women spent their days sitting at home. While their husbands after work quietly
could go to some posh, as it was called "salon" and enjoy to the
fullest with your friends. Women could not afford, and girlfriends they had.
And where they come from, when you leave the house only to check on the cattle
or go to the well for water? Fortunately for us, in the XVIII century the
situation has changed. And thanks here is Peter I. Cutting a window to
Europe, the first Emperor did not forget about the ladies and ordered his
subjects to bring their wives and daughters at various social events. So don't
hate him for all of your suffering on the lessons of history. He's not so bad,
as it turned out!
HAVE TO MARRY SOMEON CHOSEN BY THE FAMILY
Sometimes I
think that a good idea if the parents will pick up you a pair, as in the XIX
century. Do not bother, do not need someone to look up to... But you should
know that, according to your mom, the best party is "the son of aunt Amy –
President of the chess club, the second David Beckham, the gold medalist, but
in addition to this so talented violinist, Paganini to his skill, as to Africa
on foot". In fact, it turns out that the son of aunt Amy – the usual geek
that anything on your computer sees, and with whom you have nothing in common.
And we expect to see a handsome man, with ease plays the electric guitar and
the wall street stock exchange! No, mom, thanks. I think I'll find someone
myself. And actually, I have long like the Nick/Peter/Harry/Niall... what? In
our XXI century, everything is possible!
THE MAIN PURPOSE OF WOMEN IS THE CREATION OF A FAMILY?
We already
talked about the fact that if you lived in the XIX century, you would have had
to marry someone like their parents. So you would have left nick and married
Bob, for example. Now let's talk about this. What if you don't need either Bob
or nick? In the early twentieth century, women got freedom of choice in that.
Want to build a career first, and not to sit in 20 years at home deep in
diapers? Please! It's your choice. Now nobody will be surprised if a woman
decides to have a baby after 30 years. Many argue whether it is right or not,
and there is no single answer. But, anyway, it is a choice women are no less
valuable than the choice of men.
YOU WOULD NOT BE
ABLE TO WORK. NEVER!
Not to say that
women didn't work at all. On their fragile shoulders was all housework and
child-rearing. And it is very hard work! Which, of course, not many took to
heart (and also not paid for), so in the eighteenth century women sought to go
to work. Vacancies, however, they were not so much. Women became artists and
governesses (these posts, by the way, was considered prestigious). The rest had
to work in laundries or sewing shops and to put up with meager wages. They went
there, of course, not willingly. Just party, composed of parents were not
always successful: the husband could be lazy, or greedy, in the end, a
drunkard. Some out of desperation had to go the extra mile and become "sex
workers". So haven't been easy for the female until the XX century. After
the revolution of 1905, the situation changed, and the woman became a
full-fledged unit of society which is entitled to receive education and to work
in the profession. Thank you for this, Vladimir Lenin, and we move on.
WOMEN WERE NOT
ALLOWED TO ATTEND EDUCATIONAL INSTITUTIONS
"Well, and
wouldn't let go!" – you say you are. Do not rush! Do not you think that it
is better to go to school, gain wisdom and then become a highly qualified
specialist instead of the whole day is at home to wash, clean, cook, babysit?
And even if you're not going to work, it is pleasant to maintain a conversation
and not be silent, flapping eyelashes. Especially now that so many excellent
scientists, doctors, writers (and the list goes on) women! The ladies in our
country remained uneducated for quite a while. To attend individual lectures,
they were only able with the 20-ies of the XIX century, but in the quality of
auditors. You no diploma, nor even document about the lecture. And only after
the revolution of 1905 women are able as
men to attend universities.
THERE WOULD BE
NO WOMEN IN THE GOVERNMENT
Although rule
the world women have always wanted what is already there to be honest. In
XII–XIII centuries and Princess boyar were active in political struggles, and
the reform of Princess Olga we remember to this day. But Olga was the exception
rather the rule, and until Peter the great about women in the annals is hardly
mentioned. And here the eighteenth century saw the reign of women. Just
remember Catherine I, Anna Ioannovna, Elizaveta Petrovna and Catherine II. The
latter, incidentally, is one of the most prominent and powerful political
figures to this day. But do not forget that they were heirs to the throne and,
by and large, they just happened to be born in a family of monarchs.
Fortunately, time goes by and the situation is changing, girls are slowly
taking over the world, and now it is a normal situation, if the woman is some
kind of high political office. I bet you know who Angela Merkel is? That's
right – the Chancellor of Germany. Did you know that in Germany there is the
President? And it is. And his name is Joachim Gauck.
HAD THE RIGHT TO
VOTE ONLY MEN
The women's
struggle for suffrage was very fierce. Outraged by this gender inequality women
around the world came out to the streets, staged rallies, smashes shop Windows,
torching and much more. They were considered crazy and no one believed that
someday these fragile creatures have their way. And made well! The Russian
Empire, by the way, was one of the first in which was adopted the law on
women's suffrage. It happened in 1906 in the territory of the Grand Duchy of
Finland (then part of the Russian Empire). However, and here it was not so
easy. Not all women could vote. All depended on your position in society,
wealth, position husband... And only in 1918 from each woman got the right to
vote.
